First Day of School!

Douglas was admitted to a new Charter School this past summer. They are renting building space the first year, and have had to delay the beginning of school to September 6th to finish the space.

Douglas has also been on the top 10 waiting list for a different already established Charter School for the past three years. Well, yesterday they called me and informed me they had a spot open for him!

They had already started school on August 24, so he was over a week behind, but the teacher had no problem with him making up the homework and getting caught up.

Needless to say, the past two days have been CRAZY, meeting the teacher, returning the hunter green and black uniforms I'd bought him for the other school, and trying to find white and burgundy uniforms this late in the school shopping season! (So far I've found 2 white polo's and 1 burgundy in his size. I've ordered more online, but they won't get here until Sept. 15-17 because of Labor day!) I'll be doing a lot of wash for the next couple of weeks!

Here is the excited boy on his first day of 2nd grade. Now all we have to do is get caught up on sleep (already!), and figure out the best way of dropping him off and picking him up... insane amounts of traffic going through the school!

Pretty Breakfast!

I felt creative this morning and decided to make strawberry french toast.
Turned out pretty, didn't it?

The boys never want to eat french toast "because they don't like it!"....

Hmmm... I don't see any complaining here!

Always nice when you can get your kids to eat new/different things!
Yum!

Stuffed Crabs!

Last week I managed to make it to Corn Wagon Quilts in Springville, UT
with my sister and sister-in-law. I found this Darling collection and it just screamed to be made
into something for my 2 boys. One of my companions suggested stuffed crabs (sorry, I don't remember which lovely lady had the great idea!)

So let's introduce you to 'Crab and Crabby'!

I initially thought I'd just cut the whole shape out and stuff it. For some reason, my brain decided that if I made the leg pieces separately, stuffed them, then sewed them into the body it would work out better (blue crab).... wrong.

Mr. Crabby (blue) is called crabby because one of his back legs is off by about an inch. Nothing my 2 year old will notice, but me.. I'll always know it's there. Mr. Crab (Orange) was cut whole piece and was much easier.
So lesson learned: Stick with your original instinct & don't over-think simple projects!
